HSTaXe

HSTaXe is a Python package to extract spectra from all slitless spectroscopy modes provided by the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). It replaces aXe. HSTaXe has the same functionalities as aXe but, unlike aXe, does not require IRAF/PyRAF which is no longer supported by STScI.  

Support Notice

We will end maintenance of HSTaXe on 3/15/2026. We currently do not accept new feature requests or application upgrades, and are only supporting major bug fixes until 3/15/2026. After that date, the software will remain available in perpetuity, but we will no longer provide user support, bug fixes, feature requests, or system upgrades. Please migrate to using Slitlessutils for your work (see Slitlessutils GitHub and readthedocs) and please give us feedback on the new tool and how we can best support your transition to using Slitlessutils.
